If you mean Barix Clinics, I had my surgery there and I, along with several others on here, will probably attest to the fact that the care you will get and the support to be had is, hands down, one of the best!  and I've heard this from people who've had their surgery elsewhere and come to Barix for support group. . .

If you are interested, come attend one of the support groups, as well as a seminar there. . .

Wherever you go, good luck to you, remember the more homework you do, the better you will do in the long run, be honest with yourself about what you want out of this and what you are willing to do, in other words, your desire to be compliant with what the lifestyle entails, and you will be living a great life!!!

I had my surgery at Barix in June, 2009.  My experience there was great.  The nurses, doctor and support staff were fantastic.  I also have been attending the support groups there for the past 3 years.  I have met a lot of great people there and have made some good friends.  Feel free to ask any questions of us.  We at the PA board are a good group and try to be helpful.  Good luck with your weight loss journey.

My surgery was at Barix in July 2009. I had no complications and have been very pleased from pre op stages through post op support groups. My surgical experience was simply outstanding.

I had my surgery there in May 2007 and continue to go there for support group meetings.  I can't say enough wonderful things about all the people I came/come in contact with there.  They really know what they are doing -- the surgeons, nursing staff, nutritionists, etc.

Lashae,

I did not have my surgery there, but if you can have it there by all means do so.  I have always said that if you have medical conditions that may play in during having the surgery, and you have certain specialist that you deal with then I would discuss this with them or your PCP.  I was extremely morbidly (I hate that word) obese so I opted to go to Pennsylvania Hospital.  I don't regret my decision but knowing what I know today I would have gone to Barix.

During your first year or so you will see your surgeon a few times.   After that the decision to continue to see the surgeon become less important and the need for support becomes of the upmost.   This is where Barix excels.  There support system can't be beat.  I have only attended one meeting and very much plan on returning as soon as I can.  I am almost 6 years out and I need reteaching and much support.

You are on a very long journey, the beginning you need both medical and emotional support.  Hopefully after a year the emotional support becomes the biggest factor and Barix is it.

Good luck to you.  Hope to meet you at a meetning soon.

Barix is the best place for weight loss surgery.  I had gastric bypass surgery in August 06, with Dr. Marymor.  He is the kindest doctor I have ever met.  Even after six years, I still see him once a year, and if I post something here on OH or on Facebook of a crisis, or health issue, he calls my home and checks up on me.  Example, I was in the hospital for two weeks with a serious leg injury, and posted it on Facebook.  He called me at home to check on me. Also, upon discharge, he gave me his personal cell phone number to call if I ever had a post-op problem.

The nurses are the best in the world.  They understand morbid obesity and the needs of weight loss surgery patients.  They are diligent in making sure you get your walks in every four hours, and make sure you are sipping.  Also, the respiratory therapists are great in helping you with your breathing exercises.

Hope you choose Barix.  You won't be sorry.

Hugs,
Trish
